A Minor Step for Swift but Big leaps for Indian Auto market! Checking the success of minor modifications such as Facelift and how Indian consumer responds can open new doors for this developing market. Experimenting on this, the Maruti had their Swift Face-lifted. What was the end product, better see for you! Will Maruti Suzuki Swift Facelift be a hit or not?
Introduction to the New Facelift
The much loved Swift got a taste of facelift! Unfortunately at first sight, it is almost identical to the previous model but pay attention and you shall see some notable changes Based on a completely new platform with being 90 mm longer and 5 mm wider. The height somehow remains unchanged with the wheelbase being 40
mm longer. Major benefits of increased size means better cabin space, as the swift now gets bigger on inside, this clearly states there will be more room for rear passengers.
It is further aided by indents in back of front seats. But being almost similar to the old Swift, the rear is a bit Claustrophobic due to Small Window Area! Also check out our views on Maruti Suzuki Swift DZire Facelift Here.
When it comes to styling the New Maruti Suzuki Swift almost remains the same. The only notable addition is introduction of L shaped LED Head Lamps. Apart from that Swift Facelift offers clear silver detailing on the lower part of front bumper. Despite these features, we will also get to enjoy a High mounted LED stoplight. Finally the Japs offered new Boost Blue Metallic and for non-alloy wheels. However the wheel covers are redesigned. We are now expecting the same in VXi, ZXi, VDi and ZDi versions.
Supporting a new grille with flared headlights, the most notable feature is turn indicators being placed on edge of wing mirrors. While the head lamps are flared out, the tail lamps are flared in! The higher end models got parcel tray, lane change warner, display of fuel consumption, tilt steering with low fuel warning lamp with ORVMS indicators. The chrome door cabin side handles with power windows all around helps this car for making a strong statement. In the end, I will just say the swifty got swiftier while the beautiful got more beautiful.

Well thanks for working out the minor glitches, this car is well capable of climbing up to 18.5 km/L. if calculated, it’s a 4% increase in fuel economy. Well that was the petrol now let`s see what diesel have in store for us, it`s an easy 22 km/L, compared to the petrol version. This a straight 6% increase. The fuel economy is also result of clever weight reduction; the petrol version is made 30 Kg lighter while the Diesel is 15 Kg lighter.
As for the suspension, Swift got the McPherson Struts in front while adjusting a Torsion Beam in Rear. This ensures the top end ride quality we all love about Maruti Swift. The facelift version is also installed with Ventilated Disc Brakes for Front while the regular drum brakes for rear. Well thanks to its 4.8 m turning radius, it`s still one of the best cars to drive in a city. However, if you care to know, the fog lights aren’t any better!
Another notable addition here, the interior now features cruise control, button start with key-less entry. As the top variant of Maruti Swift is already enjoying offerings such as climate control, music system with iPod compatibility, Aux and even Bluetooth while seats are made of Faux Leather Material. We are now expecting this car to update for rear ac vents and there might be electric seat adjustment in order. This is a little bit effort for updating the feature list and keep on with competitors.
Interiors are made contemporary with Rich Black Interior. The darkness is a little bit complimented with its chrome assents. Ergonomics along with the looks have been improved as well. With the new waterfall center Console separating style and comfy feeling, the upholstering is not up to standards as compared with outgoing models. Hugging seats are impressively comfortable but the rear splits seats are now seem missing. Other notable features include Central locking, fog lamps at both front and rear. Apart from the facelift, what adds character into new Swift is body colored ornaments such as door handles, ORVM and Day Night in Cabin Mirror.
