The New Mahindra XUV500 Hybrid carries the concept of cheetah. Yes jaw shaved front grille, paw handles and pouncing bodylines remain the same. The concept of making a vehicle look like its moving whiles it still is commendable. With monocoque construction a single frame instead of traditional version of body on frame has been used. This platform helps for improving handling as well as safety of the ride.

Front face with honeycomb jaw resembling cheetah is something we always wanted to see. However Mahindra have cleverly carried this design with the see through dark colored bonnet. Yes, you heard me right. Instead of being a metal head, the Mahindra XUV500 Hybrid exterior features a carbon see through hood. Apart from all the hybrid badging in rear and side, this hood makes the hybrid version look different from standard Mahindra XUV500.

Going into other details, the head lamps remain the same, two barrel shaped along with side indicators. As for rear profile, linings here are appraisable. Everything remain almost the same except for additional hybrid badge with model name. In addition of rear, the side profiles also remain the same. One thing I must say, Mahindra did managed to give this hybrid a macho look.

Mahindra XUV500 Hybrid Interior

As for intro, the Mahindra XUV500 Hybrid Interior will remain identical to standard one. However, we are expecting a few changes. The expectation list include names of special gauges for hybrid system, different driving moods, a bit modern seating, climate control, reverse camera and 2 DIN music.  To dig deep into details, we will now detail the previous version!

The standard Mahindra XUV500 is something astonishing inside. With comfortable seating for 7 passengers, there is also addition of notable luxury features. Side bench seat featured in middle row can be folded, two seats in last row are foldable as well.  Dashboard centers the long console which grabs attention of everyone entering this vehicle. A 6 inch touchscreen with color monochrome display and audio control is main entertainment hub. The front dash is installed with 4 AC vents.

As for the steering wheel, it’s a blend of sportiness and traditionalism. A sporty look covered in leather with control buttons, something bold! I would also like to mention cabin lighting which sets mood. Made in two tone, the inside is covered with both fabric and leather upholstery. A clever yet ravishing setting by Mahindra, it sure is impressive!

Engine and Performance

At nothing moment, nothing much have been said about the engine. But going what we have noted so far, the Mahindra XUV500 Hybrid Engine will remain as 2.2 L M-Hawk Diesel. This engine will be producing 140 BHP and 330 Nm. With the gas, the Mahindra XUV500 Hybrid will also enjoy an electric motor. However the official stats of this motor have not been released yet. What we know so far is this engine will be powered by Lithium ion batters.

Coming to brakes, we are expecting the hybrid drive train. Transmission will remain as 6 Speed Manual. But, we believe that Mahindra will introduce the AMT in order to obtain max output from the power houses. We are also expecting a few features from standard version. Features such as all-wheel drive and direct fuel injection along variable geometry turbocharger for improving overall performance. Noting that, if the Mahindra XUV500 Hybrid want to be successful. It needs to be as tough as standard XUV500 and should be capable of surviving on rough terrain. In addition, the top speed should be near 185 Km/h as standard version or at least it should be 150 km/l considering the fact that it`s an hybrid.
