Mahindra Mojo 300 Review: The Hunky or Just Funky

No surprise the launch of new Mahindra Mojo 300 has evaded us all for too long! When this matter was brought to the company at auto expo, Mahindra confirmed new entry level bikes will be launched at end of this year. All we got now is the official released specs and what we saw at the Auto expo.  Yes the specs have been released but we haven`t the pleasure of hearing it`s been released. The situation gets problematic as critics are saying further delay will deflate all hype Mahindra generated for the upcoming new bike. Now without wasting a second here, let`s get to the review!

We are only reviewing the concept version as production version is yet to be revealed! However, one thing we can say for sure. The Indian industry might never manufactured a bike like this before.  Starting with the head, twin circular headlamps with golden finish around it makes bike`s front majestic. The pilots are LED lamps on top of headlamps. Mahindra Mojo looks now integrated front cowl and a visor which have been designed to meet the aggressive face. Black colored rear view lamps come with clean lens indicator supporting Mojo Sportive Looks.  The Front Fork carries set of side indicators which is partially painted in golden.

Important to mention here, many parts of New Mahindra Mojo 300 are painted in golden, this makes the sporty bike a bit classy. With its attractive sharp front fender extending with the front forks and almost covers front tires, makes the front look like a bit half cut tip of arrow. V shape style and black colors applied on rim compliments disc brakes. This bike was likely to support twin chrome finished exhaust but to our demise, it never happened and instead the concept is showing one pipe only. Extended silver panels gel with fuel tank graphics proves that Indian motor industry is revolutionizing. The Mahindra Mojo 300 features a long seat which leads to rear cowl. The LED tail lamps look nice but lack of grab rails with naked rear fender is what gives this bike the hunky looks!

Power, Engine, Suspension and Transmission

Mahindra Mojo will be powered by a single cylinder 4 valve DOHC engine. This new bike will be producing about 25NM Torque and 27BHP Power with its 295cc displacement. The powerhouse is combined with a 6 speed manual transmission with one gear down and 5 gear up pattern. As for the Mojo 300 performance, surprisingly the engine appears to be more powerful than its competitors!

This bike is likely to reach the top speed of 150km/h. the 0-100 is less than 12 seconds. However, Mahindra has opted for matched gear ratios so the bike can use its power properly!  As for the maintenance, there will be hardly any complains as this bike is tuned for the Indian roads. Speaking of India, keeping the consumers in mind. This bike impressed with is 30 km/L mileage.

Featuring best in class suspensions, Mahindra got inspired from front telescopic forks and the gas charged mono shock and therefore these are featured in the new Mojo 300. This bike features twin petal disc brakes at 320mm at front and for rear we have 220mm petal disc brakes. People are expecting an ABS Variant but we can`t say it for sure!

Ride and Comfort

A long bike with the expected wheelbase of 1450mm, no doubt it will be a stable one. The ground clearance is 150 mm, this will improve the Mojo`s Ride with better turning even at slow speed. Wide tires will be providing good grip on roads. Suspension system digest almost every type of pothole.  It`s expected to be as good on off roads as it is on roads.  With its great handling and superb ride quality, we are excited to say how this bike will handle the traffic. To conquer this challenge, it have to be light handler with accurate braking as the Indian Roads are very crowded.

As for the comfort, we now have well fabricated seats which will make your ride extraordinary comfortable. Rear set foot pegs allow for slight bend over in order to achieve a sporty riding posture, vibration less handle bar offers good palm grip which is great on highways. However, there is no storage offered in Mahindra Mojo but a pass button and powerful Twin Lights are used to ensure safety while riding at night! Being a spacious and long bike, it`s perfect for long tips. But if you want to know more about it, you will have to wait for the launch!

The Good

  • Great Graphics
  • Large Disc Brakes for its Class
  • Advanced EFi System

The Bad

  • Only one Variant offered
  • Delayed for too long
  • Power and Torque not impressive

Final Word

Unfortunately we will have to wait more for its launch. However, despite the specs and critics, price tag will play a vital role for determining the new bike`s future in India! As we now know it’s a unique sports, this will succeed to attract many buyers. As it catchy looks are combined with modern yet powerful feature, it will get good market.

However, with competitors such as Honda CBR300R STD and CBR250R STD already on large, we have to say new Mojo 300 will face tough competition. But if Mahindra succeeds for keeping the price tag below 200G than it will be the ideal for its price. In the end, we will just say Mahindra has joined the big league to make this bike a success!
