Honda Jazz 2014 launch: Prepare to be jazzed!

Honda is all prepared to make its mark in the MPV section. Well it dominated this section before and it might do it again. With introduction of New Honda Jazz, we can say the market is seeing some stiff builds with latest tech. the rest is explained below.

The main attraction of this sweet hatch is its Aerodynamic design which redefines the Honda Brand.  Starting with front, windscreen is larger and the bonnet is has been made small. The radiator Grille is slat designed which centers the Brand name. This grille is accompanied by aggressive and well styled head lamp cluster which comes with halogen lamps and indicators. Front bumper is made a bit large with air intake console and ducts.

All these elements combined give the new Honda Jazz a bold look. As for the side profiles, the concept of urbane body have been implemented. This concept features expressive line on skids and doors. External wing and ORVM caps are introduced in body color but B pillar comes in Glossy Black Finish. With all these elements set well together, we can expect the wheels in alloy.

For rear end, the hatch is made distinct to body structure coming with off the record cosmetics. Tail lamp cluster is installed with high intensity lamps. This gives Honda Jazz Exterior an overall sporty touch up. Third brake light has been integrated with cleverly adds elegance to the whole layout. One thing I would like to praise is the chrome plats fitted on tail gate, these plates adds character to the rear profile.

Honda Jazz Interior

Coming in two tones with metallic accent and chrome plating. The best mention is spaciousness, impressive room for both leg and head categories is provided. A luxury ride for 5 passengers, going for the front, the ergonomically design is appraisable. Both seats in front come with head restraint as well as lumber support.

Driver seat comes with electrically adjustable feature while the rear are made 60:40 split fold. The upholstery will be fabric and leather but it depends on trim level and the variant.  Dashboard is structured and comes with a number of utilities. Steering wheel will be covered in leather and will feature a number of buttons. Dashboard will be featuring silver accents which will enlighten the entire cabin. In short, the overall interior is designed in simple but attractive manner.

Notable additions in Honda Jazz Interior includes the names of Air condition along with climate control, electrical Adjustable wing mirrors, power windows with auto down function for driver, center arm rests and cup holder for every row. Along with these, the passengers will also get to enjoy seat adjuster and head restraint. As for the driver, parking sensors and remote fuel lid options are available.

Engine and Performance

Both options of Diesel and Petrol are made available Honda Jazz Engine. The petrol variant will be coming with a 1.2 L I-VTEC powerhouse with fuel injection. An 1198 cc displacement with 4 cylinders and 16 valves. All these but with single overhead camshaft valve configuration. With all these elements, the engine will be outputting max power of 86 BHP with 109 Nm Max Torque.

As for the diesel variant, we got a 1.5 L I-DTEC engine which will be working on Front Wheel Drive. This powerhouse will be coming with direct fuel injection while being based on DOHC. Again 4 cylinders and 16 valves but with displacement of 1498 cc. this variant will be outputting max power of 98 BHP with 200 Nm Torque. As for the Transmission, both options of automatic and manual are made available.

As for a family car, it can go 0-100 km/h merely in 13 seconds, quite impressive for its type.  The top speed is promised to be between 140-155 Km/H. as for the car economy, well it won`t make it far unless it has something shiny to offer. The petrol version can make 15-18 Km per liter while the diesel can climb 23-25 Km per liter.


Honda Jazz Accessories

Similar to other models in Honda`s lineup, a stereo system with 1 DIN CD Mp3 player which comes with USB and Aux ports. We are expecting a SD Slot with Bluetooth connectivity. But it`s too early to tell. Other expectations include system climate control and touch screen.

At this time, nothing is confirmed as for the safety and security. But we are expecting a 3 point ELR seat belt system with dual horns, in addition, Airbags is a must for this class. Other possibilities include the names of tubeless tire and side impact protection. In addition, we are also expecting an advanced engine immobilizer. Features such as Ace body structure, ABS and EBD with high mount lamps will be implemented.


Braking and Handling

Top marks, the Handling is decent. Starting with Suspension, McPherson Strut system is introduced at front while the rear is enjoying. Going for the brakes, the fronts wheels come with Ventilated Disc Brakes while the rear features Drum Brakes. The breaking is further improved with Anti-lock Braking. Apart from the Anti-locks, we have electronic brake force distribution with brake assistance. As for expectations, the electronic power steering is in Que.


Keeping it short and Sweet, the specs of new Honda Jazz are spectacular for its price. With a tag of 4.5-7.7 Lakh. I think its money well spent! But considering Rivals such as Hyundai and Toyota have trick up their sleeves, this might get a little bumpy for Honda.
